KATHMANDU, APR 21 – Former King Gyanendra Shah, who had been to Bangkok to meet his ailing son Paras Shah , returned to the Capital on Sunday.

Upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Capital, the deposed King attributed the prayers of Nepali people for the speedy recovery of his son.

“The health condition of my son [ Paras Shah ] has improved a lot due to the tireless efforts of Thai doctors and Nepali people, his health needs to improve further,” said the former King with his fingers crossed. “Prayers and well-wishes of Nepali people, your [Journalists’] queries have contributed to the improvement of my son’s health, please keep on praying for the same.”

He informed that Paras will stay in Bangkok for some time. “I have admitted him to a rehabilitation center, he will stay there a couple more weeks.” A huge crowed of his supporters had thronged the TIA to welcome him

The former king had flown to Thailand on 27 February along with his wife after his son, former crown prince Paras Shah , was admitted to the ICU of Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok following a cardiac arrest.

Paras Shah , who had been undergoing treatment for the past one month at the Bangkok based Samitivej Hospital, was discharged from the hospital on March 28 after his condition improved significantly.

Shah was admitted to the hospital on February 19 after he suffered a major heart attack. However, he regained his consciousness on March 2 after 11days in the hospital. He was then shifted to the general ward on March 14 after his health showed a significant improvement. He had been put on life support to bring back his heart beat and body temperature to normal condition.-Ekantipur
