A 12-year-old dalit girl was allegedly beaten to death on charge of stealing a neighbour’s cellular mobile phone in Saptari on Wednesday.

Taro Khang of Jagatpur-4 of the district was fatally beaten up by Sangita Paudel of Bairaba-3, according to Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, Saptari.

The victim breathed her last while being rushed to Rajbiraj for treatment.

Taro, daughter of Thanda Khang, was living with her maternal uncle’s family in Bairaba-3.

Police arrested Sangita for investigation, according to Police Inspector Laxman Khadka of Area Police Office, Kanchanpur.

The body is sent to Rajbiraj-based Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for postmortem.THT
