The Supreme Court on Friday ordered Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Attorney General Mukti Pradhan to appear in the court within seven days with a written clarification as to why investigation into the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa of Dailekh has been obstructed.
A single bench of justice Sushila Karki issued the order in response to a writ jointly filed by Nepal Press Union secretary Santosh Neupane and Kamal Prasad Itani on behalf of Democratic Lawyers Association.

In the writ, the petitioners accused the Prime Minister and the Attorney General of trying to let off the accused persons, who have been arrested, by ordering the police and the public prosecutors not to continue the inquiry.

Issuing a ruling on a separate writ earlier this week, the apex court had stayed the Attorney General’s letter to the police headquarters to stop the investigation into the murder. -Nepalnews
