Opposition parties have announced series of protest programmes including a bandh (shutdown strike) in Dailekh district headquarters in an attempt to obstruct the programme to be attended by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday.
A meeting of the opposition parties on Tuesday decided “not to allow PM Bhattarai to enter the district”, declaring bandh in Dailekh Bazaar from 2 pm to 4 pm.
They also decided to block the roads to prevent vehicular traffic to from the district headquarters. Local reports said the cadres of the opposition parties have started placing obstructions on the roads.
PM Bhattarai and UCPN (M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal are scheduled to arrive in Dailekh to inaugurate the party’s district convention on Wednesday.
The opposition parties had launched their anti-government protests from Dailekh on Saturday. Apart from their protests, journalists and local people also organised protests for days against Bhattarai’s order to the police and the public prosecutors to stop investigation into the murder of journalist Dekendra Thapa. -Nepalnews
