The Capital on Saturday recorded the cold est day of this year so far— 0.7 degree Celsius—and the chill is expected to dip further in coming days, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
Raju Pradhananga, a meteorologist at the MFD, said that the minimum temperature in the Capital was measured at 0.7 degree Celsius at about 8:45 this morning. Meteorologists predict that the temperature may dip beyond freezing point (zero degree Celsius) this winter. Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, senior meteorologists at the MFD, said that the temperature may drop below the freezing point.
The last time Capital experienced temperature beyond zero degree was in 2002. On January 11, 1978, Capital witnessed a minimum temperature of -3.5 degree Celsius.
