UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dhal has said that he is not in a
mood to criticise anyone. He added that his party cannot give up the
issue of federalism.

“We compromised on various issues for writing the new constitution, but
our party would have been in a danger of collapse had we compromised on
federalism and identity,” said the Maoist Chairman, addressing a mass
meeting organised by the party establishment faction at Khula Manch in
the Capital.

Hinting at the joint mass assembly organised by 26 political parties
including the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML and another assembly organised
by Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal the very next day, Chairman Dahal
said: “The assembly is just small show. You can see the difference
between their [the opposition political parties] singing and our
whistling. Just imagine, how would it be if we really organised an
assembly?”

The May 27 has separated those in favour of change those who are
against it. He alleged that a “capitalist constitution” as desired by
the NC and UML would not be drafted. Hinting towards Nepali Congress and
CPN-UML leaders Dahal said that the uttra-feudalists did not let the
constitution to be drafted.

Claiming that rumours about his alleged statements of Nepal Army are
running wild in public, Dahal said that the Nepal Army had become a
republican force. “How can the army be under a particular party,” Dahal
questioned.

Speaking in a different context, Maoist Chairman Dahal said that there
is no alternative to agreement. He urged the irate Maoist leaders and
the opposition parties to work in unison with the government.
